This policy explains what personal information Saving Grace AI collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It is written for parents and guardians, because in almost every case it is a parent or guardian who opens the account and a child who uses it.
Who we are
Saving Grace AI is a service of Saving Grace Education Group, an online education provider based in Table View, Western Cape, South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), Saving Grace Education Group is the responsible party for the information described in this policy.

What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Saving Grace AI website at savinggraceaitutor.co.za and to the Saving Grace AI learning application at app.savinggraceaitutor.co.za. It does not cover other websites we link to, which have their own policies.
Whose information we process
There are usually two people behind one account:
- the parent or guardian, who registers, pays and manages the account; and
- the learner, who uses Grace for homework help, tutoring and exam preparation.
Accounts must be opened by an adult. We do not knowingly allow a learner under the age of 18 to open an account in their own name.
Information we collect
- Account information — the parent or guardian’s name, email address, password and contact number.
- Learner profile — the learner’s first name or nickname, grade, school phase and the subjects they are working on.
- Session content — the questions a learner asks Grace, homework or photographs of work they upload, the answers they give, Grace’s responses, and voice input where the voice feature is used.
- Progress information — topics covered, practice and test results, and where the learner is finding the work difficult.
- Payment information — subscription and billing records. Card details are entered with our payment provider and are processed by them; we do not store card numbers on our systems.
- Technical information — IP address, device and browser type, and how the service is used, collected automatically when you visit.
Children’s information and parental consent
POPIA gives the personal information of children special protection. Under section 35, a child’s personal information may generally only be processed with the authorisation of a competent person — in practice, the child’s parent or legal guardian.
When you create an account for your child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you consent to us processing their information as described here. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us, although doing so will normally mean we can no longer provide the service to your child.
If you believe a child’s information has been given to us without the consent of a parent or guardian, please contact us and we will delete it.
How we use the information
- to create and manage your account and to let your child use Grace;
- to generate tutoring responses, homework help and exam-preparation material suited to the learner’s grade and the CAPS curriculum;
- to track progress and show you how your child is doing;
- to take payment, manage subscriptions and issue invoices;
- to support you when you contact us;
- to keep the service secure and to detect misuse; and
- to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
How Grace works with session content
Grace is an artificial-intelligence tutor, not a human being. To answer a question, the content of that session — what your child types, uploads or says — is processed by the artificial-intelligence services we use to generate a response. Those providers process it on our instruction and under contract with us. If you would like to know which providers we are currently using, please ask us and we will tell you.
Grace is a study aid. It can make mistakes, and it is not a substitute for a teacher, a doctor, a counsellor or any other professional.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- service providers who host the service, process payments, send email, and provide the artificial-intelligence models behind Grace, each acting on our instruction;
- professional advisers such as our accountants and lawyers, where necessary; and
- authorities, where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect someone’s safety.
Information processed outside South Africa
Some of our service providers operate outside South Africa, which means personal information may be processed in another country. Where that happens we rely on the conditions in section 72 of POPIA, including contractual protections requiring the recipient to protect the information to a comparable standard.
Keeping information safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls and limiting who on our side can see learner data. No online service can promise perfect security, but if a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
How long we keep information
We keep account and learner information for as long as the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return. Billing and tax records are kept for the period South African law requires. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask what personal information we hold about you or your child, and ask for a copy;
- ask us to correct or complete anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a good reason to keep;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent you previously gave; and
- complain to us or to the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these, email info@savinggraceeducation.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand a child’s information to the wrong person.
Complaining to the Information Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your complaint, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Complaints are submitted through the Regulator’s eServices Portal at inforegulator.org.za.

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies: some are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to make the site work, and others remember your preferences. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the service may stop working properly if you do.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the service changes or the law requires it. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects how we handle your child’s information, we will tell you directly.
