Where isiZulu trips learners up.
isiZulu grammar is systematic, which is good news: the concord system follows the noun class, and once a learner genuinely sees that pattern, a large part of the paper opens up. Most learners are never shown the pattern — they are asked to memorise the table.
The second gap is vocabulary in comprehension. A learner who knows the grammar can still lose the passage if four key words are unfamiliar, and the honest fix is repeated exposure rather than a rule.
I keep using the wrong concord and I don’t know why.
Let us start with the noun. Write down the noun you are using it with.
Abantwana.
Good — that is class 2, so the subject concord is “ba-”. Try the sentence again with that, and then we will do three more nouns from different classes.
