About Saving Grace AI

Why Saving Grace Education Group built a CAPS-aligned AI tutor for South African families in Grades 1–12, what it is for, and who is behind it.

It usually starts around 7pm.

The homework is out, the child is stuck, and you either don’t remember the method or the school teaches it differently now. A private tutor solves it — at R300 to R500 an hour, once a week, at a time that suits the tutor.

Saving Grace AI is the other answer: an AI tutor built around the CAPS curriculum, available whenever your child is actually stuck, for less than the cost of a single tutoring session per month.

Mum, I don’t understand question 6 and it’s due tomorrow.

Show me where you got to, and we’ll pick it up from there.

What we are trying to do.

Leaving no learner behind — not as a slogan, but as a set of decisions about who the product is built for.

Purpose

Put a patient, curriculum-accurate tutor within reach of an ordinary South African household — not only the ones who can find R1 600 a month for weekly sessions.

Vision

A learner in Grade 1 and a learner in Grade 12 helped by the same companion, in the same method their school marks, at whatever hour the confusion actually happens.

Educational value

Understanding over answers. Grace hands the next question back to the child on purpose, because the child sitting the exam has to be the one who can do it.

Aligned to CAPS, because that is what the school marks.

General AI tools will answer a maths question. They will not know that your Grade 6 child is meant to be doing common fractions this term, or that CAPS teaches long division a particular way.

Saving Grace AI is built on the CAPS curriculum from the ground up, so what Grace explains at home matches what the teacher marks at school. That matters most in the primary grades, where a conflicting method causes more confusion than no help at all.

Foundation Phase · Grades 1–3

Reading, number concept and early problem solving, with Grace reading aloud and prompting rather than lecturing. Built for learners who cannot yet type a full question.

Intermediate Phase · Grades 4–6

The phase where homework battles usually start. Fractions, comprehension, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences — explained in the CAPS method the school uses.

Senior Phase · Grades 7–9

More subjects, more assessments, and the point where most parents can no longer help across the board.

FET Phase · Grades 10–12

Matric-directed. Past-paper style practice, concept revision and exam technique across the core subjects.

Who is behind it.

Saving Grace AI is built by Saving Grace Education Group, teaching South African learners since 2015 from Table View, Cape Town.

The curriculum knowledge behind Grace comes from a working education provider that has been marking CAPS assessments for a decade — not from a general model with a South African label on it.

Every worked example, every rubric, every “show me your method” prompt started life in a classroom before it reached the screen.

A private tutor was just too expensive. Now she has Grace explaining the CAPS curriculum step-by-step whenever she’s stuck.
