Online Tutoring in South Africa — CAPS, Grades 1 to 12

One subscription, every subject, every grade — available at the hour your child is actually stuck, anywhere in South Africa.

What online tutoring actually means here.

Most online tutoring in South Africa is a video call with a person, booked in advance, charged by the hour. It works, and for some learners it is the right answer. It is also expensive, it happens at the tutor’s convenience, and it usually covers one subject.

This is a different model. Saving Grace AI is an AI tutor built on the CAPS curriculum that is available whenever your child opens it — every subject in their grade, unlimited questions, one monthly price. No booking, no travel, no clock running while your child works up the courage to ask again.

It is built by Saving Grace Education Group, which has been teaching South African learners since 2015 from Table View, Cape Town. The curriculum knowledge comes from a working education provider, not from a general model with a South African label on it.

Tutoring by phase and grade.

Foundation Phase · Grades 1–3

Phonics, decoding, reading fluency, number concept and early problem solving. Grace reads aloud and prompts rather than lecturing. Expect to sit alongside your child at this age.

Intermediate Phase · Grades 4–6

Fractions, long division, percentages, comprehension strategy, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. The phase where homework battles usually start.

Senior Phase · Grades 7–9

Integers, exponents, algebra, the sciences, EMS and both languages. Grade 9 results drive the Grade 10 subject choice, so test readiness matters most here.

FET Phase · Grades 10–12

Functions, trigonometry, calculus, Physical and Life Sciences, Accounting, and the language papers — with past-paper practice through to the matric finals.

Questions about online tutoring.

Do you offer tutoring anywhere in South Africa?

Yes. It is online, so there is no travel and no catchment area — Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Polokwane or a farm school with a phone signal all work the same way.

Is this a human tutor?

No, and we would rather be plain about that. Grace is an AI tutor built on the CAPS curriculum. There are cases where a human tutor is the better answer, and we set those out on the pricing page.

Which curriculum does it follow?

CAPS, the South African national curriculum, by grade and phase. IEB learners use it successfully too, since the underlying content overlaps heavily.

How much does online tutoring cost?

From R275 a month for the full subject load, compared with R300 to R500 an hour for a private tutor. Every account starts with three days free and no card details.

What device does my child need?

Anything with a browser — a phone, a tablet or a laptop. There is nothing to install.

Ready when you are.

Tell us about your child, and we’ll help you find the fit. Leaving no learner behind.
